The Freedman Gallery’s Summer 2012 installation, “Intertwined”, examines the artistic relationship of a mother and daughter, and a father and son, who have experienced extraordinary circumstances. Features local favorites, Mary Stoudt and Sybil Roe Thompson, along with Dave “Big Dutch” Nally and Will Nally. Mary’s innovative quilt techniques have been honored nationally, and Sybil is known for working with bright geometric colors and reclaimed materials. The Nally Boys also work with reclaimed materials, and their recent independent and collaborative constructions, part sculpture, part functional craft based on Dutch’s background in carpentry, are infused with symbolism and satire regardless of whether they are exploring the mysteries behind love or current events.
